RedStone: New Features

General

The most visible change is of course the new name, RedStone^TM. Originally we called our software HNRC^TM, an acronym standing for Handheld Non Routine Card. Perceptive chose to re-brand HNRC as RedStone to provide stronger name recognition. This will help avoid confusion in marketplace and with existing customers.

Because RedStone includes re-branding, there is a strong "Look and Feel" component to RedStone. But RedStone introduces far more than cosmetic changes. Major new features exist in each core RedStone Module.

RedStone Handheld

Port to .NET Compact Framework

The RedStone Handheld was completely rewritten using C# and Microsoft’s .NET Compact Framework. This provides:

• Better support for handheld hardware.
• Better alignment with Microsoft’s technical direction for the PocketPC operating system.
• Updated look and feel on RedStone Handheld Improved usability
• Attractive screen layout that continues to provide users with a useable, standards-based user interface.

RedStone Desktop

The RedStone Desktop with an updated look and expanded features delivers an improved user experience.

All activities, including creating non-routines, can now be performed from the RedStone Desktop

• More attractive screen layout based on cascading style sheets (CSS)
• Separate layouts for 1024x768 and 800x600 screens
• Jasper Reports integration – RedStone now uses JasperReports, the powerful OpenSource Java reporting engine. Create the reports you want to see, when you want to see.

RedStone Printer

• Redesigned print engine built on JasperReports.

RedStone Server

The core of RedStone. RedStone Server is a robust, stable java server application. RedStone Server technology has run continuously since 2001 delivering nearly 100% uptime. The same stable core under pins the newest release.

• Increased password facilities for better Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
